Hearts Content is absolutely beautiful. I suggest anybody and everybody to visit, as there are only a couple of old-growth forests left in PA. Spending time with these very old trees will do you good!
The trails are easy with a couple of different length options. A couple of minutes walk from the parking lot will take you to trees over 400 years old. There's a sufficient amount of parking, some picnic tables and even a little out house thing.
Beautiful, historic, natural area. The old growth eastern hemlock are just amazing. short, easy 1 mile or so trail is recommended. some longer hiking trails are also in the area.
This is one of two old growth forests on the east coast that were never logged. See the forest as it would have looked had we never logged. Trees over 100 ft tall, so wide eight people touching fingertips can't always reach each other. Beautiful trails, primitive camping and recreation area close by. Its in the middle of nowhere but highly worth getting off the beaten path to appreciate this magical place.
Small campground in a delightful forest. Adjacent to the Hickory trail loop. Nearby to the remote Minister Creek area and its excellent hike.
Probably one of the best places to hike in the county. I like to hike there in the summer and fall. Its a Beautiful and vast old growth white pine forest. Perfect for all able bodies young and old.
